Marie Mills, Co-Founder
Marie’s interest in home care grew over time as she provided care for both her mother, who suffered from pancreatic cancer, and her mother in-law, who continues to suffer from dementia and lives at home with Marie and her husband. Marie has an extensive business background in technology, financial services and retail. Her key strengths include relationship building, developing solutions, problem solving, and driving innovation. Throughout her career, Marie has held leadership positions and served as a mentor for younger professionals, providing guidance, motivation, and encouragement. Marie combines her business and leadership expertise, along with her first-hand experience in providing care and working with caregivers, to ensure Stay Home Care provides creative care solutions that are customized to meet the specific needs of clients and families in the Nashville area. Marie has a bachelor of science from Upper Iowa University, is married with four children, and she is an active volunteer in the Williamson County school system.
Cheryl Thomas, Co-Founder
A long-time educator, Cheryl enjoyed an 18-year teaching career and has worked with the Metro Nashville School District as a facilitator and researcher for implementing new curriculum. Cheryl’s experiences with families throughout her career in education, as well as her first-hand knowledge from serving as a caregiver for her mother, have helped her understand what it takes to build healthy relationships. She places an emphasis on excellent customer service and fostering an environment that prioritizes trust and respect. She is deeply involved in her church youth group and in various volunteer roles in the community. Cheryl has a BSE In Elementary Education and an MSE in Professional Development from University of Wisconsin – Whitewater. In addition to being married and the mother of four adult daughters, Cheryl is also a proud grandmother.
Toni Collier, Director of Sales and Marketing
As a family caregiver who has arranged home care options for her mother and other family members, Toni knows firsthand the importance of helping people stay in the comfort and familiarity of home throughout the aging process. Because of that, she is passionate about helping families find solutions for their care needs. With 15 years of community outreach experience in the healthcare industry, Toni has worked with clients and families in various settings, from skilled nursing and long-term care to assisted living and home health. Combining her personal and professional expertise, Toni is committed to helping families navigate their caregiving journey, and nothing makes her happier than knowing the difference home care services make in the lives of clients.
When Toni isn’t at work, she enjoys shopping, crafting and decorating, and spending time with her husband and 15-year-old Shih-Tzu, Max.
Daryl F. Gibson, Business Strategist
Daryl learned the important role family caregivers play while watching his parents care for his great-grandmother in their home. Seeing his parents juggle careers and caregiving gave Daryl an early appreciation for the significance of home in each of our lives, and the importance of helping loved ones age with dignity and safety at home. Throughout his diverse career in law enforcement, healthcare, and most recently in the home care industry, Daryl has been driven by a desire to make a difference, a principle he applies each day to his interactions with clients, families and referral sources.
Daryl holds an associate degree in criminal justice from Sandhills Community College and is a certified medic. When not at work, Daryl enjoys spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren, fishing and listening to music.
Kayla Gordon, Customer Care Manager
With firsthand experience in providing care for her grandmother while working full time, Kayla relates to the joy and challenges family caregivers face. From coordinating busy schedules to finding compassionate and reliable care, a lot goes into ensuring our loved ones are well cared for. Knowing the many balls family caregivers must juggle each day, nothing is more rewarding for Kayla than matching clients with a caregiver who engages well with their family, and who provides the high standard of care they are seeking. Combining her professional experience in working with individuals in group homes and helping clients gain skills to live independently in their community, along with her experience as a caregiver, enables Kayla to find creative care solutions for families that help restore peace of mind.
Kayla is an active member of her church and attends a weekly Bible study. She also enjoys swimming, sewing and reading in her spare time.
